The Story
This Easter you have the opportunity to buy real Easter eggs! A hen, costing £8 will provide nutritious eggs for a family struggling with the effects of Coronavirus in Kisiizi, Uganda!
We’d love to be able to buy a healthy egg-laying hen for patients at Kisiizi hospital. Many patients struggle to maintain good nutrition. For example, when psychiatric patients are discharged and reunited with their family or village they may be unable to work, or farm, or contribute to the family’s income at all. Patients in the Ahumuza (psych.) ward often arrived confused and alone and stay for long periods before returning home. A hen would not only provide food but a sense of pride as they could care for it and contribute to the family.
We’d also love to give staff an Easter ‘Thank you’ gift of a hen too! Staff have struggled this year as food prices have risen due to COVID-19 and they’ve had to have a 20% pay cut to allow the hospital to continue functioning.
It’s the season to celebrate new life! So let’s bring a feathery new life into some homes this Easter!
