Over the course of 2022 ICM will be undertaking a number of global challenges to raise money for the charity Teach A Man To Fish and in particular for the TLT programme. The TLT program has set up three projects which will support the most underprivileged children in South Africa. These projects create bespoke camps that include workshops which aim to tackle daunting social topics. The three projects are as follows:
TLT Forward Foundation Forward foundation was developed to focus on sport and development for children and youth. They focus on a range of innovative socio-economic development programmes. Part of the money raised will fund 51 students, 5 days of two workshops each day.
TLT Made For More Made for you was developed to help children with physical disabilities pursue their sporting journey. It does more than focus on the physical aspect as it also focuses on the heart and mind of the athlete. Part of the money raised will fund 30 students, 5 days with 2 workshops each day.
TLT SOWETO The project is a 3 day camp for 84 learners from Grade 6 and 80 learners from Grade 7. Workshops will be incorporated into the camp and will focus on identity, bullying and resolving conflict (without using violence). The aim is to provide an engaging experience where learners feel valued and heard.
The following offices are undertaking the following volunteering / challenges:
On 30th September, members of the UK office are set to don their hiking boots and waterproofs to hike up the 1,345m Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, the UKs highest mountain in one day to raise money for TLT.
The Cape Town office will instead support SEED and SANCCOB, two charities in South Africa. Supporting SEED will involve tasks such as planting fruit trees and helping in the kitchen, whilst helping SANCCOB will include assisting with the cleaning of the penguin rehabilitation centre and enclosures.
Our Singapore office will be volunteering to help out at a local soup kitchen called Willing Hearts whilst Eduardo from our LATAM office is raising money for a private foundation via running his first triathlon.
