Charlotte Skinner London Marathon 2020

After ten years of applying to the marathon (and being secretly relieved when I didn't get a spot), my luck has finally changed - I'm in! On Sunday 26th April, I will be running the London Marathon for a movement called Wave (We're All Valued Equally), and I'd love your support. So, what is Wave? Wave is a movement for change, working to break down the barriers that can result in people with and without learning disabilities being socially segregated. It’s grass-roots, community led, and for the past 10 years has provided places in Muswell Hill (where I grew up) for people of all abilities to meet and have fun together. The great thing is that it benefits everyone. Anxieties are lessened, attitudes to difference are challenged and people’s behaviour changes when we do things with and not for each other. I know this because I've seen it firsthand. Wave, currently run totally by volunteers, wants other communities to benefit from its WithNotFor ethos and practical experience. The money I raise will go towards employing someone to co-ordinate and promote this work.
