Story of Young Persons' Befriending and Mentoring Services
Volunteer Glasgow provides vital support to isolated and vulnerable young people in the city. We run two amazing services: the Young Persons Befriending Service (YPBS) and intandem. Volunteer Glasgow’s Young Persons Befriending Service provides support to isolated and vulnerable 8–18 year olds living in NorthEast Glasgow, SouthWest Glasgow and Drumchapel, Whiteinch, Scotstoun and Yoker. The service matches young people who are experiencing challenges with adult volunteers who are recruited, trained and supported to give them a supportive relationship and access to much-needed resources. intandem is Scotland’s mentoring programme for young people. It brings together vulnerable young people with a mentor to build a consistent and trusting relationship, and improve their chances in life. Volunteer Glasgow matches mentors to young people aged 8-14 in the city's South and Northwest.
Volunteer Glasgow is a registered charity that supports people and organisations to volunteer. We believe that volunteering benefits society. In fact, we don’t just believe it: we know it. Volunteering connects individuals to each other and to their communities; it improves wellbeing, develops skills and helps people feel more confident. We make those connections happen. We provide services to match charities and volunteers, to help people learn and grow through volunteering, to support Glasgow's amazing third sector and to connect vulnerable young and old people to befrienders.See other opportunities to help us here.
