About The Butterfly Tree The Butterfly Tree, founded in 2006, is a non-political UK charity and Non-Government Organisation in Zambia. It is run entirely by volunteers and supports orphans and rural communities decimated by the HIV pandemic. The charity drills boreholes, constructs health and education facilities, implements food security projects, provides malaria and HIV prevention, community housing, sustainable income-generating enterprises for women, sports projects, and an orphan support programme.
