The Story
I'm running the Bath Half Marathon on the 17th of March to raise money for Masambiro, a charity supporting education in Northern Malawi.
To me, a good education can make a huge difference to the life of a child, but shortages of teachers in Malawi are making that difficult for various schools. Masambiro is a charity close to my heart supporting education in Northern Malawi and their most recent project pledges to build a teacher training college next to Kunyanja school. Having visited a few schools in Malawi just before covid struck, with Kunyanja being one of them, I am hoping to raise money that will help contribute to the success of this project and improve the quality of education for the children of Malawi.

Masambiro UK
Masambiro was founded in 2005 to support education in the district of Nkhata Bay, Northern Malawi. Since 2005, Masambiro has partnered with and provided direct assistance to a wonderful Malawian team at Kunyanja Secondary School and more recently to Kunyjana Educational Trust.
In the past 18 years we have:
- Built a school with many classrooms, a library, a science laboratory and a school hall that has seen nearly 10000 students come through its doors
- Through a bursary programme funded over 80 children a year through secondary education who otherwise would not have access to education
- Supported the growth of income generation projects including a piggery and a community garden
- Worked with our local Malawian partners to create Kunyanja Education Trust based in Malawi to oversee the governance of all the projects
- Supported nearly 400 students & staff to reach higher education
- Completed the building of a girls dormitory for 56 female students to be able to board at the school
