Story of Support for Beirut, Lebanon
We have launched this fundraiser in light of recent catastrophic events in Beirut, Lebanon. All proceeds will go to grassroots organizations supporting refugees, migrants and Lebanese in rebuilding their lives.
Marhabtayn is a Syrian word meaning ‘double welcome’ and the Marhabtayn Syrian Supper Club (registered charity Marhabtayn Trust) is a group of Londoners – Syrians and friends – working to show solidarity with people caught up in Syria’s conflict and refugee crisis. We put on suppers that raise money for Syria, and showcase the country’s cuisine, culture and hospitality. We send money to people and groups who need money to deal with some of Syria’s many enormous personal tragedies and crises. We identify these people and groups through a network of partner organizations in neighboring countries, run by young Syrian activists. Many of the Marhabtayn team members work for human rights organizations in countries neighboring Syria, and that is how we get to know these activists.See other opportunities to help us here.
