The Story
Over ten years ago, Knowledge for Change built a protected walkway to cover the 50 metre distance from the labour ward to the operating theatre building. This meant pregnant women needing emergency caesarean sections in labour could be quickly and safely transported to theatre and back to the recovery ward on a trolley after their operation, avoiding the rough and uneven ground of the rest of the health centre site. Over the years wear and tear has taken its toll on the walkway. The Health Centre team have identified this as a priority for refurbishment.
£2000 would fund the repair of the damaged concrete of the walkway and add a metal sheet covering to protect women from sun and rain on their way to theatre.
