Little things for the little ones! Kinder Croft CIC is a new Outdoor Nursery, set in a mature conifer forest, near Ullapool. Your donation will help us to pay for start up costs, such as installing clean drinking water facilities, so that we can open our doors this August! Most of us here at Kinder Croft are parents of young children and we witness ourselves the positive impact that the outdoors has on them, which is why we have created this new Outdoor Nursery for the local community. We firmly believe that children deserve the choice of an outdoor day care setting and embrace an ethos where children are valued, trusted and supported to lead their own nature based learning journeys.
Kinder Croft CIC
Kinder Croft CIC is a new Outdoor Nursery The children’s day care provider based at Leckmelm has been awarded £5000 by Firstport, Scotland’s social enterprise development agency, to help this new forest nursery open for business later this year. It aims to provide places for up to 16 children in an ethos where they are valued, trusted and supported to lead their own nature-based learning journeys. “It is fantastic to be given this funding at such a crucial stage in Kinder Croft’s own journey from idea to practical, daily reality,” says Merlin Planterose, its founding director, who has lived in Leckmelm Wood, three miles east of Ullapool, where the nursery will be sited, for much of her own life. The nursery, which is forming a partnership with Highland Council to provide commissioned places, is determined to be responsive to the needs of local communities. Sustainability and transparency in everything it does are among its core values. “We are now fundraising for additional start-up costs including basic equipment and resources to make sure the children are safe and comfortable for their first year long outside learning journey.”Charity Registration No. 625717
