The Story

Grasmere Primary School is raising money to upgrade our desperately small computing resources to empower our students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in today’s digital age. Unfortunately the current funding system means that as a single-form school we are at a disadvantage, so we are reaching out to our brilliant community and to our family and friends far and wide, to ask for help. Please let us know if you can help with donations, contacts or advice on how to update our computing resources. As well as donating on this page we'd really appreciate you sharing this fundraiser with as many people as possible, and suggesting funding sources. Technology plays a pivotal role in education in today’s rapidly evolving world. It has the power to bridge gaps, unlock potential and create opportunities for all pupils. We have made great changes to our teaching of computing over the last year. The computing curriculum at Grasmere Primary School prioritises digital literacy and internet safety, providing our children with the skills and confidence to use a range of tools and programmes, whilst also sharing vital discussions to empower them in every-day situations when using the internet and develop their critical thinking skills. Our children are excited by technology, are highly skilled and eager to explore more. But our IT equipment desperately needs updating. At present, we only have nine working laptops, and whilst our teachers are incredibly adaptive and our children fantastic at sharing, we know that a greater and richer range of technology would support them to reach their best potential. Money raised will go directly towards resourcing our computing equipment. It would allow us to purchase laptops to serve every class and allow us to introduce exciting, new technology that can be woven across the curriculum for all year groups. Our SEND children (special educational needs and disabilities) could benefit from powerful, adaptive technology allowing them to access more and engage in learning in dynamic ways, and we would be able to ensure that no child would leave primary school without digital literacy. Our technology wishlist Our main priority is to install 8 Interactive whiteboards to support quality first teaching in each classroom. The following items would also make a big difference to the school: ● 9 class computers or laptops to provide working systems for high quality planning and teaching ● New AV system for the school hall for daily assemblies, school performances, parent workshops. ● Microphones for school performances and assemblies. ● 15 chromebooks per class for interactive and adaptive lessons across the curriculum ● 15 tablets with pens per class to provide a range of accessibility ● 3 sets of Beebots for Nursery, Reception and KS1 ● 30 headphones per class ● Kindles for school library and reading areas in each classroom to support reading stamina and SEND children. ● SEND resources - adaptive technology for visual and hearing impairment ● Dictation software ● Update for apps to ensure our technology remains up to date and powerful ● Literacy and maths plugins for google chrome to provide children with a contemporary approach to learning. ● Digital workshops for children ● Digital CPD for staff ● Technical support ● Electronic notepads for art and mark making We would like to show children how computing can be so much more than simply engaging with a digital device and share positive experiences of technology in different learning settings from coding and producing to photography, writing, composing or design. Please donate and share this page with all of your contacts! Thank you The Grasmere Primary School team

FROGS is a parents/teachers organisation that organises fundraising activities and social events for families and carers of children who attend Grasmere Primary School and the local community in Stoke Newington. All parents and carers of the children who attend the school, and the staff who work at Grasmere, are automatically members of FROGS. Here, were are sharing our Kindlink platform with the school team to support their technology fundraiser. Please see below a message from the Grasmere School Staff. Dear Supporters, Grasmere Primary School is a small school with a big heart. It is an inclusive, one-form-entry primary school, passionate about ensuring all children have an equitable experience of learning within a supportive, creative and empowering environment. We are a family, a true community school, where everyone knows each other’s names and takes care of one another both at school and beyond. Our children come from a diversity of cultures and backgrounds and at Grasmere Primary School we embrace and celebrate this, taking opportunities to learn from each other whilst also ensuring that every child has what they need to access their learning and to inspire a love of learning in all children, for life. Our Grasmere values of kindness, creativity, bravery and respect embrace our pupils, parents, teachers and school team and how we work together to extend our learning out into our local Hackney community. Our parent association, FRoGS (Friends of Grasmere School), supports us to bring inspiring experiences into the school. However, at Grasmere Primary School, we sit alongside many other schools in the country with a tight budget. Can you help us to continue to provide an excellent and enriching education for all our pupils? We are raising money to upgrade our desperately small computing resources to empower our students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in today’s digital age. Across the month of January, staff and some parents from Grasmere Primary School will be walking, running, cycling, swimming, skipping and maybe even roller skating into the new year to the finish line of a marathon to raise money to bring new technology to the school. We will also be running a series of exciting fundraising activities such as theatre performances with princesses, musical busking, whole school (including parent) daily athletic warm-up sessions and fine dining for parents in the school hall. Grasmere Primary School is reaching out to our brilliant community and to our family and friends far and wide, to ask for help. Please donate and share this page with all of your contacts! Thank you The Grasmere Primary School team
