The Story

The Urban Tree Festival is an award-winning annual, community celebration of trees: their benefits and beauty, their majesty and magic in cities, towns and all urban environments. Events, celebrations, walks, talks and storytelling are held across London and the UK, bringing all our communities together to educate, inspire and to share their enjoyment of trees. The Festival has existed since 2017 and seeks to connect people with their local urban trees; whether they are street trees, trees in parks, gardens, estates, urban woodlands or orchards. 2020 we moved online to continue to deliver the festival. Following the success of the 2020 event, we have become a hybrid of online and in-person events. Why we need funding? The Urban Tree Festival is run and managed by a team of volunteers, held together by the goodwill, endeavour and dedication of our supporters. In order to organise and drive the festival forward as well as support the myriad of volunteers, we need to onboard an Event Coordinator as well. We have also been able to deliver events due to the generosity of our contributors providing events for free and have been fortunate to work with several generous benefactors donating either time, venues or money. Many of our contributors are freelancers, self-employed, students, on low incomes or unemployed; we want to be able to thank some of our contributors in the form of an honorarium in recognition of their time and effort. Part of our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity is to properly reward people for their time.
