The Story
Bowman Academy is a specialist school supporting children and young people aged 4–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We are currently fundraising £12,000 to transform our outdoor space by installing outdoor fitness equipment and playground markings that will benefit every child to support emotional regulation and improve physical health and wellbeing.
Why This Matters:
For children with SEMH needs, movement and play are not “extras” — they are essential tools for learning and wellbeing. These new outdoor resources will:
• Support emotional regulation
Structured physical activity helps children manage anxiety, frustration and stress, supporting calmer, more focused behaviour in the classroom.
• Improve physical health and wellbeing
Outdoor fitness equipment encourages strength, coordination and healthy activity, helping pupils build lifelong positive habits.
• Build confidence and self esteem
Mastering physical challenges allows children to experience success, resilience and pride in their own abilities.
• Encourage positive social interaction
Playground markings and shared activities promote turn taking, cooperation and communication in a safe, supported way.
• Enhance learning readiness
Regular movement breaks help pupils return to lessons more settled, engaged and ready to learn.
How You Can Help:
With your support, we can create a vibrant, inclusive outdoor space that meets the emotional, physical and sensory needs of our pupils. Every donation brings us closer to our £12,000 goal and directly improves daily life for children who need it most.
Together, we can give our pupils the space to move, play, grow, and thrive.
Thank you.
Community Inclusive Trust
The Community Inclusive Trust (CIT) is an education charity working in partnership with local communities to provide not-for-profit education. Our schools enhance the education provision of the communities they serve and improve the life chances of the pupils who attend CIT schools. This is driven and supported by high quality central services and CIT’s in-house specialist SEND training provider, LEARN.
The Trust was formed in 2014. Our family of schools now consists of 9 mainstream primaries, 2 secondary schools, 8 specialist schools, and the LEARN SEND Hub. We also manage a mainstream inclusion hub called ‘The Parks’ at Hinckley Primary School in Leicestershire.
