The Story
On December 10th, International Human Rights Day, we launch our fundraising project to support the ninth International Caravana of Jurists, scheduled for August 2026. This follows the impactful mission of twenty-two jurists from eight countries who, in August 2024, documented urgent human rights violations across conflict-affected regions in Colombia, including Tibú, Cúcuta, and Cauca.
The Caravan emphasises the need for justice, focusing on the challenges faced by human rights defenders in a climate of escalating risks and impunity. As Colombia approaches critical elections, the urgency of this work is paramount.
Your support will enable this delegation to advocate for local communities and amplify their voices. Join us in the Caravan of Hope—together, we can uphold human rights and foster peace in Colombia.
Colombian Caravana
The Colombian Caravana-UK Group, in partnership with Colombian human rights lawyers and defenders, is fundraising towards the next International Caravana of Jurists.
The findings of the VIII Caravan highlight an intensification of violence and the exploitation of ecosystems by armed groups and economic actors. However, they also under-
line community resistance, such as the ecofeminist approach pursued in Santa Marta, the mujeres buscadoras (“searching women”) or proponents of indigenous justice in
the Valle del Cauca, all of which provide examples of continued struggle in the face of complex territorial conflict and the relative absence of the state.
Nowadays, the communities visited by the Caravana last year are facing death threats and further marginalisation, accompanied by displacement due to the expansion and reconfiguration of illegal armed groups. One of our collectives of human rights lawyers has been receiving death threats from various armed groups and military bodies for defending these communities. Additionally, one indigenous woman who collaborated with the Caravana in Valle del Cauca has been forced to flee Colombia with her family and is now facing homelessness in Spain.

"Join the Caravana of Hope to defend human rights in Colombia."
