The Story
We need your support to fund the construction of a vital trail bridge in the Nyagatare district of Rwanda in partnership with Fika (formerly Bridges to Prosperity), Mott MacDonald, and Balfour Beatty.
Building on Fika's amazing work throughout the world, the construction of the Kisaro Trail Bridge will provide a safe crossing of the Ngoma River. During the rainy season the local community, which relies on crossing the river to reach an array of critical resources, becomes very dangerous and often deadly.
During the rainy season, community members refrain from attempting the dangerous crossing. With no safe crossing, children cannot attend school, healthcare cannot be accessed, and a local market is unreachable. We want to help change this!
With your amazing support, in May-June 2026, a team that consists of fantastic community members, Fika, and volunteers from Balfour Beatty and Mott MacDonald will work around the clock to construct the suspension Kisaro Trail Bridge.
The Impact of Your Support:
Your support will have a direct impact on the 6,554 local residents who will use the Kisaro Trail Bridge every day!
Your support will help:
- Local children get to school and access life-changing education.
- Local community access to the health care centre.
- Local community access to the nearby market provides a connection to essential resources and a place to sell locally grown produce.
The Kisaro Trail Bridge will provide a tremendous social, health, education, and economic benefit to the local community!
