The Story
With Ramadan fast approaching, I am excited to share that I am daring to trek the highest mountain in Wales, Mount Snowdon, on Saturday 1st April 2023 as part of a fundraising challenge organised by the Al-Fikr charity.
A 15 mile hike whilst fasting will be no easy feat but still nothing in comparison to the extreme pain and suffering the orphan children and those without basic food and water have to endure on a daily basis. We pray for the strength to complete this challenge and raise as much funds as we can with your help to help those in need.
Please help me reach my minimum target goal of £150 which will go towards alleviating food poverty for hundreds of orphans and those struggling to access food in Uganda.#GIVINGISBELIEVING
Al-Fikr
Al-Fikr has been working in Uganda for the past couple of years, building strong relationships with local charities with whom we have worked to deliver much needed sustenance and aid to local communities. We have built several water wells, each of which supplies fresh, clean water to over 1000 local people. We have also provided food aid at various times throughout the year, enabling our partner charities to deliver food parcels to the neediest families within their communities. However, although providing immediate relief from poverty is of clear importance, we are always focused on helping to provide longer term solutions. With this in mind, in the past we have also purchased sewing machines for women in the poorest communities to enable them to provide an additional income for their family.
With the help from our Ugandan partners, we delivered aid parcels containing rice, flour, sugar, oil and soap, which provided more than 100,000 meals to the poorest members of communities in the Jinja region of Uganda. In addition to the aid parcels, we also supplied mosquito nets to the areas at greater risk of contracting malaria and supplied sanitary pads to women in the community, alleviating the need for them to deal with other unhygienic means of keeping clean.
With less than 3 weeks to go until Ramadan starts, we have organised a fundraising challenge which will help us raise vital funds so we can provide food to orphans in Uganda and those unable to purchase food for themselves. We operate a strict 100% donation policy and we cover any of our administrative costs through Gift Aid we receive from the Government.
Please help us in this mission to help alleviate the suffering of our Brothers and Sisters and may God bless you. #GIVINGISBELIEVING
