The Story
On 16th October, I’ll be running the Yorkshire Marathon.
I’ve decided to dedicate this to a young person I was recently privileged to tutor at Kip McGrath. Charley Bates came to me for help in preparation for his GCSEs. He was a kind-hearted, fun-loving young man who was excited to complete his exams and start the next stage of his life. He was happiest when talking to me about the things he loved about life: his family and friends, his moped, music and Oreos.
I was devastated to hear the news that tragedy had taken him from us all. So this time, I’ll run for Charley and for all young people in our area.
In consultation with Charley's family, I will be fundraising for Youth Connect South West who were so incredibly supportive to the young people affected by Charley's death. Their work is invaluable in helping young people find pathways to work and further education, and providing specialised support for those in need.
Please give as you are able. Thank you for your support xx
