The Story
Working Together with Congo Action, over the last few years we have helped fund the rebuilding of Kavumba school in the Kivu Province of The DR Congo.
We have completed the rebuilding and have entered the ongoing maintenance and support phase. The current Covid19 problem has prevented us getting any support to the region.
We still have contact with the DRC through our sister charity, Congo Action. The school has been closed and people are generally self isolating. The markets are closed so the vast majority have to rely on what they grow and the support of their neighbours. The supermarkets remain open but most people cannot afford to shop there. The usually busy local town is deserted. They are taking the quarantine very seriously.
If they contract the virus they have little or no facilities to handle it.
A lot of people will die - but they are used to that, life is hard there.
We are unable to get any money or supplies in at the moment.
They are on their own.
At some point we will be able to help, and we will.
I hope you will help too.
We do not know what problems we will face once we can get help in to them again but we will be ready.
