The Story
Hi everyone!
We are walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in June to raise money for Umoza Trust. The route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent as we take on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Our amazing team - Rosie, Nicole, Laura, Vicky, Aimee, Will, Hannah, Steven, Juul, Beth, Antoni, Matthew, Eve & Laura - have bravely put themselves forward for this challenge and welcome your donations in aid of Umoza Trust.
Funds raised will support a placement in Malawi for 6 weeks in July 2023. During this placement, Rosie, Nicole and Laura will work in mental health services and promote psychological wellbeing within communities. Mental health difficulties affect so many of us and yet are often hidden and stigmatised. We are really excited for this opportunity to learn about different cultural beliefs around mental health and to share best practice ideas around supporting holistic wellbeing. We hope that we will be able to take some of this valuable learning back to local NHS services, particularly in terms of culturally sensitive approaches to mental health.
We are working closely with Umoza Trust, who aim to improve the lives of people living with mental health difficulties, disability or disadvantage around the globe. The charity is a not-for-profit organisation recognised as charitable by HMRC (number EW39765).
Thank you for taking the time to look at our page, and a huge thank you to those who feel they can donate - anything and everything is very much appreciated! If you are able to donate, please could you specify the person that you are sponsoring - there is a prize for the team member with the most donations!
If you have any questions or would like to reach out, you can email us on: r.austin2@lancaster.ac.uk
