The Story
What is Camp?
SSC (A Club for the Youth of Scotland), put simply, is the purest form a summer camp can take.
Camp is canvas tents, grass fields, made up sports, and no signal.
Each year, The SSC comes back to create an inclusive space for kids to flourish and build lifelong friendships. It is a challenging experience to surmise in any form of succinct words. But the word that often gets used is "magic”.

Who am I?
Well, I've been going to camp for 13 years. I started going as wee camper in 2012 and then returning as volunteer since 2019. Camp for me was always the highlight of my summer, it was a chance to meet new people, to make new friends, and take a break from real life for a few weeks. I come back as a volunteer to be a part of creating that space for the next generation of campers and future volunteers.
What does camp need?
Camp puts a lot of effort into creating a inclusive space and ensuring every child that wants to, can attend, no matter the blockers. Through annual fundraising efforts camp has the "Assisted Places Fund" that is used to ensure that no-matter the situation, kids can experience the magic.
Fortunately, this year, camp has been able to achieve their target for the assisted places fund through the generosity of some amazing benefactors. However, it takes a lot to maintain the campsite and the equipment. I am aiming to fundraise £1,300 to help with the repair and replacement of the magical canvas tents that grace the field year after year.
Any amount that can go towards the organisation is a fantastic help. The SSC is a great cause, that, in no exaggeration, changes lives.
Yours aye,
Gregor
