The Story
Providing mental stimulation post-lockdown
Prolonged isolation during lockdown with minimal mental stimulation has caused many of our clients to experience cognitive decline. As part of a programme of ‘reablement’, we are running Active Minds sessions for older people who would benefit from some cognitive therapy. Active Minds group sessions are designed for older people who are experiencing symptoms of mild cognitive impairment such as forgetfulness, difficulty making decisions, or an inability to follow instructions. Older people can refer themselves or be referred via family members or professionals.
Active Minds groups participate in volunteer-facilitated activities such as quizzes, word games and discussions designed to stimulate thinking in an informal, reassuring environment. Your donation will help older people to regain confidence, form new friendships and, importantly, have fun!
