The Story
FQMS supports visiting lecturers and examiners, who give talks on specialist subjects and provide bedside teaching, as well as examining skills, such as suturing and intubation through OSCE stations.
The Hanoon Foundation
FQMS has always supported visiting lecturers and examiners. These include, for example, a group from Oxford of around 10 – 13 consultants representing different specialities who visit the medical schools and hospitals in either the West Bank or Gaza. The core of their teaching is bedside, but OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) stations are also set up including a variety of skill stations, such as suturing, resuscitation and intubation. The doctors also give a series of specialist talks. Another example, are OxPal who set up an internet-based platform, where tutors and students meet weekly to partake in real-time tutorials discussing real clinical cases. FQMS supported their essential planning trips to Palestine. FQMS has also supported other visiting external examiners to the various medical schools and other lecturers.
