The Story

I am running the London Marathon. I took up running properly at the beginning of lockdown 1 (March 2020) and have loved it ever since. Having done a few half marathons here and there I thought it time to test myself with a proper marathon. As some of you may know I have not always kept myself in top physical shape so this should be a proper challenge. Any donations are hugely appreciated. The Friends of the Royal Marsden are a wonderful charity who support patients and family's affected by cancer. Please find below a description of the charity's fantastic work: For almost 90 years, the Friends of The Royal Marsden, Chelsea has been supporting the work of the hospital in its treatment and care of patients and families affected by cancer. As a registered Charity, the Friends work alongside the Hospital Trust to contribute to the provision of facilities, amenities and equipment. In addition, they provide hands on voluntary support with around 150 volunteers who annually, contribute around 20,000 hours of their time in various areas of the hospital. In 2019 the Friends was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to any voluntary group in the UK.
