The Story
On the 21st June 2025, after 24hrs of beautiful sunshine, high temperatures (at the carparks), thunderstorms, cows in the road and high winds, we completed the Three Peaks Challenge!
We are a group of Hikers within KLA in Newport, who embarked on the challenge of completing the hikes to the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).
Starting at 6am from the carpark at the bottom of Ben Nevis eleven of us started the climb. Five of us made to the summit of Yr Wyddfa 23.5 hours later! There was a lot of pain and some difficult decisions taken, but all of us made it safely back home.
We are supporting The Freya Foundation (thefreyafoundation.co.uk), who develop and share information about Pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency (PDH). They are working with Doctors, specialists and families from all over the UK to improve diagnosis, treatment and understanding of the condition.
One of our group has been friends with Freya's parents since primary school, so this is a cause close to our hearts.
For those of you within KLA, remember you can request a matching donation from within PurposePoint Benevity (kla.benevity.org/cause/826-1157764)

"Good work everyone!"
