The Story
The Cart Shed charity transforms lives. We work with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties or with those of us who have emotional imbalances in our lives.
Based in north Herefordshire, we use enriching and engaging woodland activities such as woodcraft and coppice craft as well as horticulture to empower us to self-manage our mental and physical health in a sustainable way. Sessions are run by tutors, occupational therapists and mental health practitioners to help build confidence, identify barriers to skills development and explore other issues that might be making life challenging.
The Cart Shed Charity
The Cart Shed's mission is to provide tailored therapeutic support in a woodland setting, helping those experiencing an imbalance in their lives to heal, learn new skills, find friendship and a future.
By supporting The Cart Shed you will enable this valuable and much needed initiative to thrive.
Participants often tell us how The Cart Shed has enhanced, and in some instances, saved their lives. The Cart Shed helps them to gain confidence, learn skills and improve their mental health in the peaceful atmosphere of the woods.
We offer a wide range of activities outdoors throughout the year including:
- Coppicing and woodland management
- Willowcrafts including basket making and plant supports
- Green wood-working and craft skills using traditional hand tools
- Horticulture: learning how to grow fruit and vegetables
- Cooking on an open fire in the woodland kitchen
- Creating structures for sites including benches, shelters and fences
- The opportunity to gain qualifications
