URGENT: 27 Dogs Rescued from Years of Neglect – We Need Your Help

Our team was recently called in by the authorities to assist in a rare and shocking animal abuse case in Cyprus, where a woman was convicted for keeping dogs in horrific conditions. A few weeks ago, Vet Services removed several dogs from her home. Then they discovered she had even more dogs hidden away in private kennels, where they had been kept for years, some for five to six years, with no human contact. We agreed to help remove these dogs gradually, as they weren’t in immediate danger. But when our team arrived at the kennels, everything changed. The dogs weren’t aggressive, they were terrified. When the owner tried to hand over the first few dogs, he used a metal catching pole, dragging them out as they screamed in fear. One dog was even left hanging in the air by the neck. It was horrifying. We quickly realised these dogs had been completely neglected emotionally. They weren’t dangerous, they were just scared. With patience, our team could pick them up gently without force. But it was clear: every extra day in that place was another day of trauma. So instead of taking a few, we took all 27 dogs that day. Now, we’re facing a massive challenge. These dogs are deeply traumatized. They panic at the slightest touch around their necks. They need time, patience, and care to learn that humans can be kind.
