Support Roxine Staats in the London to Brighton Cycle Ride – Empowering Women in STEM!

My name is Roxine Staats, an alumna of Stellenbosch University, and I’m excited to share an incredible cause that is close to my heart. As a native of the Eastern Cape, I am passionate about creating opportunities for young women from rural areas to thrive, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This year, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of cycling from London to Brighton on Sunday, 14 September, to raise funds for the Stutterheim STEM Bursary Fund. This bursary fund is designed to support talented young women from rural Eastern Cape towns and villages who are pursuing a STEM degree at Stellenbosch University. It aims to empower them with the financial means to complete their education and make their mark in industries that are critical to our future. As a fair-weather cyclist and a proud volunteer with Cambridge’s Maties Alumni chapter in the UK, I’m thrilled to be taking part in this challenge. I am not alone in my commitment to this cause. I jointly support the Stutterheim STEM Fund with its founder, Karien Botha, and together, we’re working to grow the fund’s reach and ensure as many women as possible from my home province can pursue their dreams of studying STEM at Stellenbosch University.
