The Story
We are undertaking a project to improve the kitchen to better serve the wider community needs, respond in greater capacity to social issues (primarily homelessness) and to fulfil Our Vision statement. In the past we have held a homeless shelter for one night a week over October-January, under the Robes programme. With the proposed work we would double the length of time, extending it to March. Additionally, we hope to increase the capacity for welcoming in the homeless and others, with many ideas such as a creche, a lunch for the elderly and more. The work would include creating a larger space for the kitchen, by moving the walls and buying new bigger appliances.
