The Story
Hello, my name is Adriana. I am a therapist and health coach, and for the past 25 years I have worked closely with people affected by cancer, supporting them through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Throughout this time, I carried a quiet belief that because I was helping others face cancer, it would somehow never touch me personally.
That belief changed eleven months ago, when I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. At the time, I had been preparing to run a full marathon in the Romanian mountains — something I had been looking forward to deeply. I had to cancel it at the last moment in order to undergo surgery. It was a difficult and emotional turning point.
Through a dear friend, I discovered the South East Cancer Help Centre and it became a source of immense support for me during this journey. Like so many others going through similar experiences, I found there not only valuable information and guidance, but also comfort, understanding, and a sense of ease during an incredibly challenging time.
Now, I want to give back, hopefully volunteering to run cancer group coaching sessions and :..
I am planning to run the 28 km mountain track I had to postpone last year. This run is more than just a physical challenge — it is a personal milestone, a symbol that life can move forward again, even after the hardest moments.
I would be truly grateful for your support. By sponsoring me, you are helping raise funds for a charity that provides essential care, guidance, and hope to people facing cancer. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
South East Cancer Help Centre
South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) is a small independent charity based in Purley. We work across the surrounding area helping local people and their families affected by cancer. In a caring, friendly and supportive environment we offer a range of services including counselling, complementary therapies, support groups and other therapeutic activities. The Centre has local NHS recognition but receives no government funding, relying instead on the generosity and goodwill of our members, volunteers, and the local community.
