The Story

We currently own a 2002 16 seat minibus that has done several hundred thousand miles, this bus has transported hundreds of cadets over the years to an estimated total of 256 Competitions, 576 Courses and 132 Events over its lifetime. It is sad to say that it is no longer financially viable to keep it going. We are looking to Raise £24,000 to purchase a new minibus to allow us to take the cadets on further courses, competitions and events. Having a new minibus would benefit each and every child and enable us to transport the children to competitions and training courses. This would also allow us to take all our children to all events throughout the year. Such events we take part in are the Remembrance parade in London, offshore sailing around the south Coast and to France, completions such as rowing on the Thames in London, football in Portsmouth and much much more. Our cadets also travel and help many other charity’s fundraise these include, RLNI, Poppy Appeal and SSAFA. Any donation large or small will be very much appreciated.

Oxford Sea Cadets

We currently own a 2002 16 seat minibus that has done several hundred thousand miles, this bus has transported hundreds of cadets over the years to an estimated total of 256 Competitions, 576 Courses and 132 Events over its lifetime. It is sad to say that it is no longer financially viable to keep it going. The Oxford Sea Cadets has considerable experience of working with young people in the area. Our aim is to inspire young people, between the ages of 10 -18, through nautical adventure, sport and FUN! We are a youth development centre that enables young people to grow into strong, confident and active citizens of the community. We help young people to be their ‘best self’, build friendships that can last a lifetime and provide coping mechanisms for the stresses of everyday life. This is achieved through the provision of education (including qualifications and accredited courses), leisure activities and fun - based on the traditions of the Royal Navy. Our core values of commitment, honesty, integrity, respect, moral courage and self-discipline help to prevent anti-social behaviour, and provide a framework for acceptable conduct. The group enables those from financially challenged backgrounds to participate in sports, activities and personal challenges from which they may otherwise be excluded due to cost. Cost is especially relevant as our base is situated in an area of deprivation, with the group located within in the most deprived areas in Oxford People who join become part of a national family of over 9,000 volunteers and 14,000 cadets across the UK and an international spectrum where we engage with our counterparts, constantly offering choice, and achievements are always within reach.
