The Story
My name is Gemma Clark, and on 11th October 2026 I’ll be running the Bournemouth Half Marathon in support of Oncogene Cancer Research UK — a charity my mum co founded in 2024 with one of its missions: to help fund pioneering cancer research right here in the UK.
This cause is incredibly close to my heart. My younger sister’s cancer diagnosis turned our world upside down. I have seen the fear, the uncertainty, and the desperate hope that families cling to when faced with this disease. I’ve also seen the difference that dedicated research can make — the breakthroughs, the new treatments, and the moments of hope they bring.
Oncogene Cancer Research UK is working tirelessly to fund cutting edge studies that could lead to earlier detection, better treatments, and ultimately, cures. But they can’t do it without support.
