The Story
Masanga Hospital provides life-saving care to more than 13,000 patients every year. In a country where fewer than 400 doctors serve a population of over 8 million people, access to emergency and surgical care is extremely limited — especially in rural areas. For many patients, Masanga is the only place they can turn, walking for hours and even days to reach this lifeline of care
The hospital delivers essential emergency and surgical services, from life-saving operations to maternal care Sierra Leone faces one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. Many women and new-born’s lose their lives simply because they cannot access skilled care during childbirth. It also plays a vital role in training and supporting local healthcare workers, helping to build a stronger and more sustainable health system for the future of Sierra Leone.
Josh and Luke are pushing themselves through HYROX’s gruelling mix of endurance and strength challenges to support a hospital that pushes every day to save lives with limited resources.
