In Memory of Dr Firas Odeh

With deep sorrow, we mourn our colleague and friend, the young Palestinian Orthopaedic Surgeon at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital, Dr Firas Odeh, who passed away on Thursday, 20 November 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. Dr Firas was a man of exceptional humanity, carrying with him a sincere and pure patriotic spirit wherever he went. He viewed his duty towards people as an extension of a greater duty towards his homeland and his community. He never hesitated to support those in need, assist the distressed, or stand by anyone who sought his help. He was known for his genuine drive to do good, his constant readiness to support others, and his wise words that brought comfort and opened doors of hope for those around him. His generosity was not limited to his skill as a dedicated physician; he was present in every situation that required a word of truth, sincere advice, or meaningful support for someone facing hardship or seeking help. This noble spirit is what brought him close to everyone and what leaves behind a lasting, unforgettable impact. For these reasons, we—his loved ones, colleagues, and friends—come together to launch this initiative in honour of him, as a tribute to his inspiring journey, and as a continuation of his legacy of solidarity and kindness. This initiative aims to offer generous support to his beloved family, as a modest repayment of the debt owed to a man who was always giving, and as a reflection of what we always believed in alongside him: that standing by one another is the highest expression of our shared humanity. We pray that God envelops him with His vast mercy, grants him a place in His eternal paradise, and inspires his family and loved ones with patience and solace. ببالغ الأسى ننعى زميلنا وصديقنا الطبيب الفلسطيني الدكتور فراس عودة، أخصائي جراحة العظام في مستشفى Southport and Ormskirk، والذي رحل عن عالمنا يوم الخميس 20 نوفمبر 2025 بعد مواجهة شجاعة مع المرض... كان الدكتور فراس شخصية إنسانية من طراز رفيع، امتلك روحًا وطنية صادقة ونقية ظلّ يحملها معه حيثما ذهب. كان يرى واجبه تجاه الناس امتداداً لواجب أكبر تجاه وطنه وأمته، ولذلك لم يتأخر يوماً عن نصرة المحتاج، وإغاثة الملهوف، ودعم كل من يلجأ إليه. عرفه الجميع باندفاعه الصادق لعمل الخير، ومبادرته الدائمة لمساندة الآخرين، وبكلماته الحكيمة التي كانت تبعث الطمأنينة وتفتح أبواب الأمل لمن حوله. لم يكن عطاؤه مقتصراً على مهنته كطبيب ماهر فحسب، بل كان حاضراً في كل موقف يحتاج إلى كلمة حق، أو نصيحة صادقة، أو مشاركة فعلية في دعم شخص يمرّ بضائقة أو يبحث عن مساعدة. هذه الروح النبيلة هي ما جعلته قريبًا من الجميع، وهي ما تركت أثرًا خالداً لا يُنسى. ومن هذا المنطلق، نجتمع نحن، أحبّته، وزملاءه، وأصدقاءه لإطلاق هذه المبادرة وفاءً له، ولعائلته المكونة من زوجته واولاده الخمسة ، وتكريمًا لمسيرته المضيئة، وامتداداً لنهجه في التكاتف والدعم. هذه المبادرة موجّهة لتقديم دعم كريم لعائلته الكريمة، وهي ردّ لجزء يسير من الدَين لرجلٍ كان دائم العطاء، وتجسيدًا لما كنا دائمًا نؤمن به معه: أن الوقوف إلى جانب بعضنا هو أسمى صور الإنسانية. نسأل الله أن يتغمّده برحمته الواسعة، وأن يسكنه فسيح جناته، وأن يلهم أسرته وأحبابه الصبر والسلوان
