The Story
Like so many, I am deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty the Queen. As a result, the Richmond Marathon has been postponed as detailed below:
"The passing of Her Majesty The Queen yesterday has left us all deeply shocked and saddened. We are now in mourning for our longest reining Monarch who dedicated her life to our Country and our sincere condolences to the Royal Family.
This weekend was to be a celebration of months of training, fundraising and personal dedication, however it is with broken hearts that we are having to postpone this weekend.
The GoFundMe Richmond RUN-FEST event is hugely unique and we are proud to be in the Royal Borough of Richmond, running through two locations owned in part by Historic Royal Palaces and a floral tribute to the Queen in Old Deer Park. It is for these reasons that the events now can not take place and this event will have to be re-scheduled."
So... I will be running 26.1 miles this weekend regardless and as planned, and will subsequently complete the London Marathon in October. I will combine all donations into this event, so that funds raised for both events for Macmillan (Richmond) and Brain Research UK (London) are donated to the respective charities.
