The Story

Community Energy Plus has been fighting fuel poverty and the misery of cold homes in Cornwall for over 20 years. For anyone who wishes to support what we do here at Community Energy Plus, please donate here. We give advice and support to families and people in Cornwall to help them keep warm and healthy in their homes. We offer emergency, short term and long term measures to ensure help gets to the people who really need it. We receive a lot of heart-warming feedback from people who have been helped by what we do, which helps us to understand how we can help the most. £30 could provide a fuel voucher for someone who can't afford to top up their electricity or gas. This is vital emergency help particularly for a family with young children, seniors or someone with ill health. £75 could buy a heated throw to keep someone warm and comfortable, providing short to medium term help for families with young children, seniors or someone with ill health. We've had so much wonderful feedback from people for whom a heated throw has been a lifeline. £60 - £90 could provide a household with a Winter Warmth box - depending on need, items can include a heated throw, thermal gloves, a hot water bottle, draught excluders, slow cooker, thermos flask, thermal mug. Winter Warmth boxes are distributed via Warm Hubs and Food Banks. £400 could provide loft insulation for a household as a long-term, effective solution in helping people out of fuel poverty, reducing heat loss and lowering carbon emissions. Much of Cornwall’s housing is poorly insulated and with a quarter of a property's heat lost through the roof of an uninsulated property, this means a lot of people are living in cold, damp homes which are expensive to keep warm. This often results in people experiencing fuel poverty, physical health problems and mental health issues. The majority of the people we help cannot afford to install the insulation their property needs and find themselves in a downward spiral of high energy bills and fuel debt. By installing the required level of insulation, people can benefit from living in warm homes with manageable heating costs. Your donations are very welcome, either as one-off donations or ongoing monthly donations to help our cause. We will keep you updated of our progress and share feedback with you. Many thanks and warmest wishes, Community Energy Plus cep.org.uk/who-we-are/donate
