The Story
A Drop-in centre for the youth of Callington 18-21 yrsCallington Youth Project Group is pleased to announce it has taken a lease on the old Lloyds Bank building, at 13 Fore Street, Callington.
This is exciting news as it allows us to accelerate our plans to provide a permanent youth facility in town. Longer term we hope to establish a new building but for now we have the chance to offer town centre facilities for young people, aged 13-21, to use and gain access to youth services. Initially we will offer a weekly mid-week drop in centre with things for young people to do, including music, games and table tennis etc.
We need the help of the community though. We need to do some minor modification works to the interior of the ground floor to turn the space from being the former bank to an exciting venue for young people. We need the help of trades and crafts people, and volunteers to run sessions (with qualified youth workers). We need donations of reliable equipment so we can provide snacks and drinks, somewhere to sit (sprawl), play music and games.
Can you help us and the young people of Callington and surrounding area? There is a poster in the windows of the building with our contact details, copied below.
Please email or call us so we can coordinate your help with that of others. All being well we should be able to begin “operations” after Easter.
