The Story
Hello Friends,
I'm Shiny Mohanan, a 48-year-old from Munnar, Kerala, India. I moved to the UK 21 years ago and currently reside in Coventry, West Midlands. I am married to Mr. KR Shaijumon, a journalist from India who works as a resident editor for the British Malayali news portal and as advisory committee member for BMCF charity . Together, we have two sons who live with us.
I am a Registered Nurse by profession and currently serve as an Education Facilitator at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. Additionally, I am a qualified professional nurse advocate, focusing on staff career development, education, quality improvement, and well-being. I have also completed a master's degree in sociology.
Among my achievements, I have chaired the Internationally Educated Staff Shared Decision Council, where I successfully organized the Onam celebration, Christmas carol singing, and activities for South Asian Heritage Month—pioneering these events at UHCW Trust.
My elder son, Adi, holds a silver medal from the Duke of Edinburgh Award program through his school.
I have been involved in charitable efforts through BMCF for the Kerala flood appeal and am also part of the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire charity, which focuses on raising funds for staff development. I frequently organize and lead events aimed at promoting the well-being of internationally educated staff and fostering cultural awareness.
I am passionate about participating in charity work because, while I may not be able to provide financial support as an individual, being a member of a reputable charity allows me to assist those in need worldwide.
To prepare myself, I practice yoga for an hour each morning from 5 to 6 AM.
In my view, BMCF is a respected charity organization known for its transparency and commitment, which inspires others to get involved year after year.
On Sunday 19th October 2025, the suburbs of Leicestershire will come alive with the power of unity, compassion and magic as Gopinath Muthukad – world-renowned magician turned humanitarian – leads a heartwarming initiative to transform the lives of children with disabilities. Through “Walk with Muthukad – Change Lives thru BMCF” & "BMCF M'Cube Magic Moments"we aim to raise crucial funds for the International Institute for Children with Disabilities at Kasaragod, Kerala, India – a world-class centre offering care, education and empowerment to differently-abled children.
The participants get an ample opportunity to walk and chat with a reputed and well-known magician Mr. Gopinath Muthukad at 11 AM at Beacon Hill Park, Leicester along with the great participation to raise funds for a noble cause The walk trails through the park will be for around an hour.
To mark this event as a very special occasion, British Malayali Charity Foundation has also decided to honour one of the local community charities in UK, as always has been doing, in their outstanding services being rendered to the needy people in the society. As such, British Malayali Charity Foundation will be giving an amount of £ 1,000.00 to Open Hands Leicester, one of the leading community charities from Leicester as a token of solidarity and gratitude in their relentless efforts in supporting many deserving people in and around Leicestershire.
Let’s make this mission a reality by spreading this message by sharing amongst your dear and near ones.
Your support will not only make the above events a grand success but also bring lasting light into the lives of those who need it most.
