Riya Elizabeth Jimmy - BMCF Charity Skydiving 2024

Friends, I m taking part in British Malayali Charity Foundation's charity skydiving event 2024 to support underprivileged nursing students from Kerala who are in desperate need of financial assistance. I am highly appreciative of the charity acitivities undertaken by British Malayali Charity Foundation and thank them for this opportunity to take part in this fund raising event. Let us all come together and give them a helping hand by supporing financially however small it may be. I am undertaking skydiving challenge on 8th September 2024 at Langar, Nottingham, England. As an individual who thrives for adventure, I find that the BMCF charity event is the perfect way for me to express my passions. Having been jet-skiing in rougher waters, swimming mid-ocean, hiking and mountain climbing and scuba diving, I am eager to view the world from a slightly different perspective -an angle amidst the clouds. Skydiving is something that I have had my heart set on completing at some point in my life and when my father told me about this, I was also made aware that not only was this an experience for fun but also an event raising money by the participants alongside British Malayali for a good cause -the struggling nursing students in Kerala. Being a student myself and hearing what my family back in Kerala and my parents, who are also both nurses, have to say about certain educational circumstances in Kerala, I have come to acknowledge and appreciate the educational facilities available here in the UK are more advanced compared to back there. I am ambitious to take part in this particular charity event as I realised what better way to accomplish a life-long dream than to do it whilst raising money for a good cause. I realise the downsides of being able to enjoy skydiving at the price of helping to enable someone less fortunate to also have the opportunity to advance into their nursing studies and career by optimising the use of such education is near to none. I believe my bold and venturesome spirit is hugely influenced by my father, Jimmy Vettukattil, who encourages and inspires me to take part and embrace adventurous and sporty activities such as learning the foundations of boxing last year. He himself also participated in the BMCF charity skydiving event in 2019, raising around £2000 for the charity. His own experience is a leading factor as to why I am now also working towards this goal today. My family and friends are my biggest supporters and with these individuals in my life I feel blessed with a sense of confidence to pursue such big dreams and with the help and support of everyone, I believe that raising aid for this charitable cause will fulfill someone’s aspirations of becoming a nurse.
