The Story

Life can change in a single moment, and 26-year-old Rankine Mathew is living proof of that. Last September, Rankin hailing from Kollam, Kerala arrived in the UK on a student visa with big dreams, enrolling in an MSc in Project Management in London. To make this journey possible, his family mortgaged their home and land, taking a loan of around ₹15 lakh in the hope of building a better future. But fate had other plans. While working a casual job at a scrapyard to support himself, Rankin was involved in a devastating accident that left him with severe injuries to his spine and legs. Today, he is bedridden. Months of hospitalisation have forced him to discontinue his studies. His university fees are non-refundable, and because his job was casual, there is no support from his employer. Back home in India, his only support system—his parents—are both unwell. Their only son, who once carried their hopes, is now fighting the most difficult battle of his life. Right now, Rankin urgently needs to return home for long-term rehabilitation treatment. He needs support to cover ongoing medical expenses, to ease the financial burden on his struggling family, and to repay the significant bank loan taken to fund his studies. Your kindness can make a real difference. Let us not turn away from someone in need. Even a small contribution can help restore hope in Rankin’s life. Please consider donating whatever you can. Please share this message to reach more people. Together, we can help Rankin rebuild his life. Together, we can give him a second chance. If you are eligible, please remember to tick Gift Aid, as it increases your donation at no extra cost to you.
