The Story
Hi Friends,
British Malayali Charity Foundation has stepped up to support the ill-fated people, who lost and damaged their dear and near ones, their houses, assets, crops, animal husbandry as everything wiped out all of a sudden in the early hours of Tuesday 30th July due to heavy landslides. Many people are missing and the rescue operations are still undergoing while we issue the appeal as numbers of human remains are recovering from the debris. The natural disaster struck in such an unimaginable scale that the Indian army has been called in to assist the rescue operations as many inhabitants of the village is still unaccountable as the dead bodies had been found kilometres away in rivers due to powerful landslide. The army had to erect a temporary bridge to connect the isolated Mundakkai village as the bridge was destroyed in the backlash of the floods. It has been reported as the largest landslide as Kerala state ever has seen in the history. Over 500 killed as per the available latest report and almost three villages ks Wayanad District known as Mundakal, Chooramala and Mepady are washed off completely leaving the fertile land left with just muds and rocks.
BMCF trustees took an immediate decision to issue an emergency appeal and further course of action including the distribution of funds will be decided later once the full scale of casualties /damages made available. Let us come together to support our fraternity in Kerala same like we did during 2018 Kerala floods appeal as an overwhelming amount of Rs. 88 lakhs raised and given.

We have a mass support of generous people from keralites and locals living across U.K and has been receiving tremendous response to our various appeals for financial assistance..We normally present and run the cases/stories of the needed ones through ‘British Malayali‘ online news portal to the general public and people respond to our requests individually and through associations by sending us donations. We have an excellent back-up in U.K and Kerala wherein we are able to verify and scrutinise the requests received from time to time for financial assistance-mostly related to life-threatening diseases and illnesses.
