Fundraising for Divya Sinoj Appeal

Divya Sinoj, a 42-year-old nurse from Ponkunnam, Kerala, came to the UK three and a half years ago with dreams of building a better future for her family. Dedicated, compassionate, and hardworking, she served patients at London, Ashford, and St. Peter’s Hospitals before moving to Stoke-on-Trent two years ago. Sadly, Divya’s life took a devastating turn last year when she suffered a massive stroke. Despite undergoing three major surgeries, she has been left partially paralyzed and unable to care for herself. Once a devoted nurse caring for others, Divya now depends entirely on her husband and carers for her daily needs. Divya’s husband, Sinoj, works long night shifts at a DHL warehouse, struggling to make ends meet while caring for his wife and supporting their Year 7 son. The family lives in a rented house and is facing immense emotional and financial strain. As per NHS Trust policy, Divya’s salary was stopped in April this year. Despite the support of her union, her final hearing was on 15th Oct which ended in termination, which means she lost her visa and is forced to leave the UK well before it expires in January 2026. Divya’s health condition means she will require a business-class seat and medical assistance to travel back home. Once in Kerala, she will need continuous rehabilitation therapy to regain some mobility and independence. The family has already exhausted their savings, and their home in Ponkunnam is under a loan of 30 lakh rupees. Divya’s strength and spirit remain unwavering, but the challenges she faces are overwhelming. This once selfless nurse, who spent her life caring for others, now needs our care and compassion.
