The Story

It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking loss of Baby Jessica, the infant daughter of Jithin Saju and his wife Rosemary, who was born in the UK. Jithin arrived in the UK in 2022 and works as a carer, while Rosemary came in 2023 and is currently employed as bank staff in a care home. The family resides in Littlehampton, West Sussex, and both parents hold valid visas until 2027. They are originally from Angamaly, Kerala, India. The family has very limited support in the UK. Jithin’s parents, brother, and sister are based in Kerala, while Rosemary has an uncle living in Brighton. During this extremely difficult and painful time, the parents have expressed their wish to arrange Baby Jessica’s funeral in the UK, where she was born, so they can say their final goodbye with dignity and peace. Although there have been several infant deaths reported within the UK Malayali community, a tragedy like that of five-month-old Jessica is considered extremely rare. The local Malayali community in the UK is deeply saddened by this recent loss affecting a newly arrived Malayali family. The family has kindly reached out for community support and any possible financial assistance towards the funeral arrangements, as they are struggling to meet the unexpected costs during this tragic and heartbreaking time. f you are donating from the UK, we kindly request you to select the Gift Aid option. For every £1 you donate, the UK Government adds an extra 25p, increasing the value of your donation to £1.25 for the family. Gift Aid can only be claimed by registered charities such as the British Malayali Charity Foundation. Many appeals lose hundreds of pounds in support because donors forget to tick the Gift Aid box when contributing through KindLink. Your small action can make a significant difference to the support provided to Baby Jessica’s family during this extremely difficult time.
