The Story
This September, as children go back to school, our colleagues in Uganda are starting classes with a difference! They will be working with students at Mbale Secondary & Vocational School for the Deaf to give them skills needed to join the beekeeping industry.
Carpentry students will be trained to make top-bar hives and tailoring students will make bee suits. They will also be given beekeeping training and a school apiary is being set up.
We’re excited to announce we are raising funds to expand this work and raise £10,000 to:
• Teach 100 more students with disabilities the skills of beekeeping and hive management, creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
• Establish 2 new school training apiaries, giving students and teachers hands-on experience in real apiary management.
• Provide vocational training in carpentry and tailoring, enabling students to make top-bar beehives and protective bee suits, products in high demand locally creating a valuable income
• Train 4 vocational school teachers to deliver inclusive, practical beekeeping education
This is a match funded campaign so for every £1 you donate, we will recieve £1 from a champion donor. Please double your donation now to help us turn training into livelihoods!
