Mectrida Musa's Education

Tanzania
01 Nov 2019 - 31 Mar 2020
Mectrida is in her final year of school, but fears she will not be able to finish if she’s not able to come up with the funds. Her parents are peasant farmers and she has a hearing impairment herself, which has made it difficult for her to get this far in her education. About her schooling she says, “Education will help me develop self-confidence, creativity, and an innovative mind… Therefore, my education will help me to be a job creator and employ others to overcome unemployment problems. Apart from that, my education will help me to solve different social problems like discouraging disunity, tribalism, favoritism or nepotism, and I will promote social solidarity to make people help each other.” Once she graduates, Mectrida hopes to open an orphanage to help kids with their basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, and school expenses. She wants to teach society how to live with orphans and people with disabilities so that they can see themselves as important people in society, too.
