Akoth feels that advancing her education and entrepreneurship skills has allowed her to pursue her internal quest in life. Upon applying for the sponsorship, she wrote, “I desire that after completion of my course, to have the capacity to challenge and help my peers in areas of business entrepreneurship and innovations so as to become people of substance economically.” She goes on to say, “This is one of the ways we can fight redundancy among young people and the general business community in Uganda as I go out to train them in entrepreneurship skills and innovations.” Currently Akoth raises poultry on a small scale to gain capital to pay for school fees. Although it’s not making her enough money now, so she hopes to continue to grow her business. Once she graduates, she plans to help her peers earn a living from agricultural projects and the likes. “I long to become a pilar in my family, and a role-model for my siblings and peers,” she concludes.
