The Story

Fareham Nomads are raising money to build their own pool in the grounds of West Hill Park School to help secure the future of the club and allow us to continue to promote swimming in the Fareham area. The pool would provide a modern facility for both the club and school to use. Fareham Nomads reputation and success means that we have more people wanting to join our swimming lessons and competitive squads than we have space for and we run waiting lists for all groups. Access to more pool time would mean we could take on more swimmers - but getting pool time is not easy. All pools in the Borough of Fareham are oversubscribed and over used. More pool time simply isn't available. Swim England calculate, based on the number of people living in Fareham that we have a swimming pool shortage of at least one 6 lane 25m pool. Our main training pool (the school pool at West Hill Park) is reaching the end of its life. It's becoming more expensive to maintain and is having to be closed more frequently due to the high level of maintenance required. Without this pool the future of Fareham Nomads would be in doubt. Building our own pool is an ambitious plan and we have a large fund raising target that we need to meet before it can become a reality.
