Rebel Punkworx is developing an immersive training module to improve social mobility and employability skills that first gives young people a deep, contextual understanding of the climate and sustainability challenges we face – including energy use, electronic waste, and the impact of technology on people and nature. Participants will explore why these problems exist, who they affect, and how everyday systems shape behaviour. This foundation then leads into practical training in innovation, creativity and problem-solving, using systems thinking and design thinking approaches used in industry. Young people will learn how to: Analyse complex real-world problems Challenge “business as usual” thinking Design practical, circular solutions Work collaboratively like professional innovators With your support, we will continue working with Fairfax School and University of Birmingham students – particularly those from communities facing higher levels of deprivation, inequality, disability and disadvantage. This module is the catalyst for the next step: enabling young people to work directly with industry to challenge harmful practices and co-create better outcomes for the climate and nature, with a focus on energy, waste, behaviour change and electronic waste.
