This page is for donations towards all projects and up keep of the charity. The Sea Cadets was established after The Crimea, mainly to give young orphaned children leadership, guidance and direction. In recognition of the value of the Sea Cadets during the Second World War the Royal Navy set up each Unit as a Charity and are now ultimately responsible for all fundraising as well as running costs. The Oxford Sea Cadets has considerable experience of working with young people in the area. Our aim is to inspire young people, between the ages of 10 -18, through nautical adventure, sport and FUN! We are a youth development centre that enables young people to grow into strong, confident and active citizens of the community. We help young people to be their ‘best self’, build friendships that can last a lifetime and provide coping mechanisms for the stresses of everyday life. This is achieved through the provision of education (including qualifications and accredited courses), leisure activities and fun - based on the traditions of the Royal Navy. Our core values of commitment, honesty, integrity, respect, moral courage and self-discipline help to prevent anti-social behaviour, and provide a framework for acceptable conduct. The group enables those from financially challenged backgrounds to participate in sports, activities and personal challenges from which they may otherwise be excluded due to cost. Cost is especially relevant as our base is situated in an area of deprivation, with the group located within in the most deprived areas in Oxford People who join become part of a national family of over 9,000 volunteers and 14,000 cadets across the UK and an international spectrum where we engage with our counterparts, constantly offering choice, and achievements are always within reach.
