The Story
In 2022, following two minor surgeries, I was admitted to hospital suffering from jaundice. As a result, I was referred to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea where I was subsequently diagnosed with cancer and underwent major surgery.
The Royal Marsden team were amazing for which I am eternally grateful and, after three weeks in hospital, I was eventually able to return home. When I returned home, I experienced the hidden side effects of cancer treatment from a mental health perspective along with the more obvious physical side effects.
My GP recommended the South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) and there I was lucky to find the support I needed by meeting others going through a similar experience. It is for this reason I am challenging myself to take on the Camino De Santiago to raise funds for SECHC so that others can benefit from their wonderful services.
Thank you for supporting me and SECHC!

South East Cancer Help Centre
South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) is a small independent charity based in Purley. We work across the surrounding area helping local people and their families affected by cancer. In a caring, friendly and supportive environment we offer a range of services including counselling, complementary therapies, support groups and other therapeutic activities. The Centre has local NHS recognition but receives no government funding, relying instead on the generosity and goodwill of our members, volunteers, and the local community.
