MEDICAL COSTS 2020

06 Feb - 31 Oct 2020
Pawprints have saved the lives of many stray dogs in the past year that would otherwise have been put to sleep due to their medical conditions.. In the UK, a stray dog spends 7 days in local council holding kennels after which some will transfer to rescues around the country, some will be rehomed direct from the kennels without any vaccinations or medical/behaviour assessments and others are put to sleep. Those with medical conditions are often put to sleep as there are no funds from local authorities to cover these costs. At Pawprints, we have been taking all strays, regardless of medical issues, for almost 8 years. We have covered medical bills, provided ongoing care and finally found loving homes for so many, including palliative care foster homes. Broken legs, prolapses, full ear canal removals, major dental work, extreme cases of skin conditions, physical trauma from cruelty, RTA's and every medical condition in-between ; if the vets prognosis is good, then we will always provide the treatment and after care required. Additionally, all of our dogs are fully vaccinated, neutered, micro-chipped and given flea and worm treatments. In the years 2016-2019 our medical fees average at £25,000 per year. We have met these costs by arranging many fundraising events and rely on the generosity of the general public to donate. We cannot continue to absorb these costs without your support. These dogs will have nobody else to help - the councils won't pay out for operations, the holding kennels cannot pay, the owners have abandoned the dogs and there is no government funding to help. Please consider a monthly donation to help us in our extremely vital work. Thank you. Please don't forget that as a Charity, we can claim Gift Aid on your donations.
