The John Fielding Special School has taken delivery of a Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV). While we have two minibuses, they do not have the capacity to transport some of the larger wheelchairs our pupils use. This new vehicle will allow these pupils to access the same opportunities as their peers. To make sure no pupils miss out on enrichment activities, we wanted to secure a WAV immediately, and thanks to some pump-priming funding from the Community Inclusive Trust, we have been able to secure a vehicle. Now, we need to fundraise for the final payment. Project Need We provide our pupils with a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. We use adapted mini buses to transport pupils, however, some children have large wheelchairs and a specially adapted vehicle is required for them. A specific WAV (Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle) will allow us to continue to offer ALL of our pupils experiences such a: Tennis sessions at the Boston Tennis Club; Gymnastics lessons; Swimming lessons; Library visits; Theatre trips to Blackfriars; Field Trips, i.e. Eureka (The National Children’s Museum); Work Experience placements; Life skills, i.e. Shopping in the community. How can you help? Donate! Richard Gamman, Head of School, is running the London marathon to help raise funds, and Aaron Bloodworth-Flatt, Assistant Head of School, along with other members of staff, are planning a sponsored skydive to help raise money too! You can help by donating now. Any amount will be much appreciated.
